    Question

Ill be going FI(JRSC@6) in May 02(hopefully) but I started to prepare from now. I was wondering what do you guys think about this set up:
    Clutch Specialities Stage 2
    Type R flywheel
    throw out bearing(GS-R)?

Also how hard it is to install a clutch by yourself.....?

    Thanx in advance

skip the 6 and go with 8. If you are going to buy the right parts togo 6 psi, you are only a small step away from the good stuff to run 8. unless you are getting the flywheel dirt cheap, you might as well wait for another group buy on the Fidanza or CM or JR units (CM and JR are rebadged Fidanza units) and regular honda replacement parts are fine for the TO bearing but you will get them (non-honda) with the Clutch Specialties anyway.

I will have to disagree with Mr Rogers. (Sorry dude!).

First, the choir has been singing, "Throw out the no-name throw-out bearing that came with your clutch and buy a Honda bearing" for a long time.

Second, starting at 8psi (with a 3.8" blower pulley on a GSR) is a nice place to start, but you are left with fewer and more difficult options for increasing boost later on.

Once you have a 3.8" blower pulley (on a GSR), a CRV crank pulley puts you at 12psi or so, which has yet to be proven a safe or effective place to be. I think it is past the peak of the JRSC's capabilities.

You can go with a stepper pulley, (as Mr. Rogers is currently demonstrating), but still, you will be at an unproven boost level (11psi?).

If you stick with the 4" blower pulley (6psi), you can upgrade later with a stepper pulley (for 9psi) or with a CRV crank pulley (for 10psi). Both 9psi and 10psi have been proven safe and effective (with proper tuning) IMO.

Of course, if you don't mind pulling the manifold and blower to change boost, it doesn't matter. You can change the blower pulley and do whatever you want. Most people, once they have the blower installed properly, really don't want to mess with it again unless absolutely necessary.
